Well, here I am. We are now officially married, back from Hawaii, beginning our new life together. Sigh. It's all been great so far, but did I mention that Austin is, um, BIG?
When I say big, I actually mean HUGE. I don't have a clue where I am most of the time, which is proving to be a challenge to a right-brained type A like myself. Today I had my first meeting at my new school, the benefits meeting. I was so proud of myself for finding a sitter, getting up early, and leaving with a whole hour to drop the baby off and get to the administration building. To make a long story short, I got to the sitter's house 15 minutes late and the meeting 15 minutes later (which made me 30 minutes late altogether). In the car with my 2 year old, the conversation was something like this:
"Don't cry, Mommy."
"I'm not crying."
"Are you sad, Mommy?"
"Yes."
"Why?"
"Because I HATE IT HERE!"
"I hate it here, too, Mommy."
"Well, I don't really hate it here, I'm just frustrated."
"Did you turn the wrong way, Mommy?"
"Yes."
"Why?"
"Because I'm not very smart."
"I'm smart, Mommy."
"Can you help me find the babysitter's house?"
"Yes, I can, Mommy."
(At least I got one smile out of the morning.)
On the bright side (and much to my shock!) , I am driving a new car as of last night. I told my sister today that I had no idea how accustomed I'd become to living a frugal life as a single parent. This spoiling the wife business is so new to me, but hey - I'm not complaining! Every woman should be so fortunate...
Another funny thing happened this week. My husband's son is very into Star Wars everything. His favorite little Lego toy is a tiny white Storm Trooper, but he also has one with a little black Darth Vader helmet. He's been going around in public saying, "I don't like the black guy. I only play with the white guy, right Daddy? The white one is better, right?" It's pretty hard to suppress giggles when he gets going with those comments!

Glad to see that you're writing. I'm glad Caleb is there to help you out with directions. I would expect nothing less of him.
